How to shrink a swimsuit

Here are different ways how you can shrink your swimesuit to fit perfectly to your body.

Check the care label

Before attempting to shrink your swimsuit, check the care label to make sure it is safe to do so. Some fabrics, such as spandex or polyester, may resist shrinking.

Wash in hot water

Fill a sink or bathtub with hot water and add a mild detergent. Place the swimsuit in the water and let it soak for 30 minutes.

Rinse in cold water

After soaking, rinse the swimsuit in cold water to stop the shrinking process and remove any soap residue.

Squeeze out excess water

Gently squeeze out the water from the swimsuit, careful not to wring or twist it.

Air dry

Lay the swimsuit flat on a clean towel and let it dry. Avoid hanging it on a clothesline or using a dryer, as this can damage the fabric and cause it to lose elasticity.

Repeat if necessary

If the swimsuit has not shrunk enough, repeat the process until you achieve the desired fit.

Try on before wearing

After drying the swimsuit, try it on to ensure it fits properly. If it is too loose, repeat the shrinking process or alter the swimsuit to achieve the desired fit.

Avoid excessive heat

To maintain the size and shape of your shrunk swimsuit, avoid exposing it to extreme heat or sunlight, which can cause the fabric to stretch or warp.

Handle carefully

handle your swimsuit carefully to avoid damaging the fabric or altering its size. Avoid using harsh detergents or fabric softeners, and always follow the care instructions.
